About

GymmieMotion’s Mission

To provide building blocks for all children to develop the FUNdamental movement skills needed to fully engage in life through being physically active. Movement brings joy and confidence to life.

Gymmie believes that physical activity should be enjoyable and a part of every child’s day.  Children need unstructured playtime combined with structured physical activities to develop physical literacy.

What is physical literacy?

It is the achievement of general physical competency and confidence through mastery of FUNdamental movement skills. With strength, balance, flexibility, agility and coordination, a child has a broad base of motor skills and can move onto sport-specific skills or merely enjoy physical activity and play.

Gail Troussoff Marks is the preschool and special needs director at Silver Stars Gymnastics in Silver Spring, Maryland. With 16 years of experience working with children and parents, Gail believes that movement skills and physical literacy are keys to a child’s well being.
